We wanted to get a snapshot of what Newcastle United fans are thinking.

Three months into the season and 17 matches played so far across three competitions.

Now in the November international break and Newcastle United fans seeing their team win eight games, draw three, lose six.

Those results summing up a start to the season with plenty of ups and downs.

Plenty to talk about as we ask a number of Newcastle United fans, who are regular/irregular contributors to The Mag, to give us their views on the season so far, plus what will happen as we move forward.

Next up is Nat Seaton answering the questions.

Next three seasons, would you rather finish top four all three seasons BUT win nothing, or finish mid-table all three seasons AND win the FA Cup in one of the three?

Had to think long and hard about this one. I’m going to go top four in all three seasons. This goes against the answers I have given in the past to these types of questions. Being a regular in the Champions League would be a big step to a better squad, better performances and great football, after all you have to have played well to make top four in England. Winning the FA Cup would be absolutely amazing and I’d love to believe that one day I will see it happen, but Champions League nights (home and away) are special.

What are your thoughts on the fact that we are now more than four years after the takeover and still no plans announced on a new training ground, nor a far bigger capacity stadium (either brand new one, or an increased capacity St James’ Park)?

It’s very disappointing to be four years on and no announcement. I’m one of the fortunate ones to have a season ticket but that doesn’t mean I don’t want a new stadium for the enormous demand of fans who want to be able to go to the games.

If Newcastle United were to look to the transfer market to strengthen the team/squad in January, what do you see as the priority (or priorities…)?

More cover in central midfield and possibly left back cover, plus we can ALWAYS do with more cover up front!

Would you say winning the Carabao Cup last season has made you more content, or now more desperate to get the next one?

More content. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not that I don’t want to go on winning things, it’s just so amazing that we finally WON something and what a feeling that is.

Three words to describe Newcastle United now?

Could do better!

Alexander Isak – Time to forgive and forget…?

I’m pleased Isak hasn’t had a great start to his season as it’s made the breakup and the way it happened easier to go through. I don’t doubt things will improve (for him) but whatever happens now the time passed is going to make it easier to take and move on, but maybe not forgive the way he went about it…

If you had to choose. A win against Sunderland but lose to Fulham in Carabao Cup quarter-final, or lose to Sunderland and go through to Carabao Cup semi-finals?

If you’d asked me this time last year my answer would have been different! Having secured my ticket I’m really looking forward to the first league derby in nine years and hopefully our first win in 14 years (that’s a head shaker) and if that comes at the price of the Fulham game then I’ll take that!

Would winning the Carabao Cup again this season BUT finishing outside the Premier League top six, be success or failure?

Success of course!

Top six and playing Champions League is always going to be a tough task for us with where we are currently with our squad and experience wise. If we won the Carabao Cup again, I think it would be a greater achievement than last season.

In order, which six NUFC players have been the most impressive so far this 2025/26 season?

In order, by the end of the 2025/26 season, which six NUFC players do you think will have proved the top performers?

Tonali, Bruno, Thiaw, Woltemade, Tino, Hall

Eight months ago, Eddie Howe banked the first trophy for Newcastle in 56 years, then two months later secured a second Champions League qualification in three years. Some Newcastle fans appear to be questioning his position now. What are your thoughts on Eddie Howe and how much more time has he earned to get the league position sorted and beyond that, or not?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion but I find what is written and talked about by some about Eddie Howe’s future, to be way off the mark.

This season is not simply press play and repeat. There’s Champions League football to factor in, six new signings to integrate who all have the ability to be possible starters, Isak going, injuries to key players. Some people seem to be looking at all the negatives when Eddie is imo trying a step up in the way we are playing, which some players are finding harder than others to adapt to. However, surely this is the way to go as the team continues to develop with a level of player that will take us hopefully to the level where it will be more like press play and repeat and 100% with our current manager leading us.

In the future after they have all finished their Newcastle United careers, what is your guesstimate on how the six summer signings will each be assessed. In each case – Thiaw, Ramsdale, Ramsey, Woltemade, Elanga and Wissa to be seen as one of these three choices – A success, Done OK, Failure.

Thiaw – it’s looking like he could be a real success for us. It’s early days but he looks the part and coming to England from Milan has helped him with getting regular football and now in the German squad with hopefully a World Cup for him to aim for. He’s got the potential to be a Newcastle hero Thiaw! Thiaw! Thiaw!

Ramsdale – He’s done ok with his two full appearances and it’s good to know that we have him on the bench if needed, but I’m not so sure without an injury to Pope he is going to get a chance this season to prove to us what he can do and could well go back to Southampton after his loan is over.

Ramsey – Early days to know if he is going to be a success for us. Technically he looks good, no worries about playing the ball into him whilst marked, which is a big plus with the way Eddie wants to play. Hopefully his confidence will grow when he gets some more game time, I certainly have him as a player a step up from Willock and is likely to get some time on the pitch from the bench and push for a starting place. I’m going to go with a success.

Woltemade – Well what can you say about Big Nick. What an exciting signing that is something so different to what is around and he’s ours! As starts go he’s done well with what is being asked of him, in an ideal world we would not have had to run him into the ground like we have. Again, like Thiaw the Germany call ups have come and he’s leading the line for them just as I hope he will for us for many years to come, a real success in the making for us to adore.

Wissa – ask me again in a few months’ time. Must be honest, other than when he has played against us, I hadn’t really paid much attention to him as a Premier League player. I’m excited about seeing him finally kick a ball for us (whenever that turns out to be) and I hope he can carry the No9 shirt to being a success.

What do you see as three positive things for Newcastle United so far this season?

What would represent success in the 2025/26 season for Newcastle United?

Top six Premier League and getting through to the 2nd knockout stage of the Champions League, Carabao Cup Final, beat Fulham and a two legged semi – you never know!

What do you see as the minimum to achieve this coming season?

Top eight Premier League and getting through to the 1st knockout stage of the Champions League, Carabao Cup Semi Final.

Predict the top six in the Premier League (in order) and which three clubs will be relegated.
