Great to see on the Newcastle United goals front.

In the 2024/25 season, Eddie Howe’s side managed 37 goals in their opening 22 matches in all competitions.

In the opening 22 games of this 2025/26 season, the Newcastle United players have exceeded that.

The running total is 38 Newcastle United goals after 22 matches, only the one more than after 22 games last season.

However, there are plenty of other positives within that.

This is how the 38 Newcastle United goals have been shared so far:

Woltemade 7, Barnes 7, Gordon 6, Bruno 5, Joelinton 3, Osula 3, Murphy 2, Thiaw 2, Burn 1, Miley 1, Schar 1

As you can see, a healthy 11 different Newcastle United players sharing these goals out so far, rather than one individual dominating.

Last season there were 13 different Newcastle United players in total who had scored at least one goal last season. I am sure there will be more Newcastle United goalscorers this season by the end of May, especially with the likes of Wissa, Tonali, Elanga, Willock and Ramsey yet to notch.

The 2024/25 season saw 88 Newcastle United goals in total (in all competitions), these were shared as followed:

Isak 27, Barnes 9, Gordon 9, Murphy 9, Schar 6 Tonali 6, Bruno 5, Joelinton 4, Willock 3, Burn 2, Miley 2, Osula 2, Wilson 1, own goals 3

Last season only player managed double figures in terms of Newcastle United goals with you know who scoring at least three times as many as any other player.

This season it looks like Newcastle United will have a far better base, in terms of sharing the goals around, rather than so reliant on one individual.

I think rather than one player hitting double figure, I fancy we could see five or more Newcastle players doing so by the end of the season. My money is on Woltemade, Gordon, Barnes, Bruno and…Wissa doing so.

Bruno has already equalled last season’s five goals, thanks to that audacious corner against Burnley, the United captain looking far more dangerous in general in terms of goal threat, whilst also in midfield, Joelinton is only one goal off equalling last season’s total.

After only four goals in the opening six games this season, 34 have been scored by Newcastle United in the last 16.

United are averaging a healthy two goals on average these past 16 games and in the last four Premier League matches there have been 10 goals scored by Newcastle United.

However, another huge positive is that in reality, Eddie Howe’s team have been creating far more good goalscoring opportunities than the Newcastle United goals total suggests. If they can keep that creativity up, or improve further on that, which I expect will be the case, then I think we are going to see that goals average soar beyond what it is now, as we start seeing the NUFC players converting far more chances on average.
