Five rounds of matches played so far in the Swiss League stage of the Champions League for Newcastle United.
That leaves still three matches left to play.
All three of these remaining opponents for Newcastle United won their games in the fifth round of matches and scored 11 goals between them.
Those results in the fifth round were Manchester City 0 Bayer Leverkusen 2, PSG 5 Spurs 3, Liverpool 1 PSV Eindhoven 4.
One thing for sure, I doubt very much that Newcastle United will experience any goalless draws in their last three Champions League matches.
In the five Bayer Leverkusen Champions League games there have been a total of 18 goals, in the five PSV matches 21 goals, whilst in the five PSG games a total of 27 goals.
Taking each of these remaining Champions League opponents in turn…

Newcastle United v PSV Eindhoven (Wednesday 21 January 2026 at 8pm)
PSV are top of the Dutch league and have won 13 and lost one of their 15 domestic league matches so far.
They have eight points from their opening five Champions League fixtures and are currently 15th in the table with three games to go.
PSV Eindhoven 1 Union S-G 3
Bayer Leverkusen 1 PSV Eindhoven 1

PSG v Newcastle United (Wednesday 28 January 2026 at 8pm)
PSG 4 Atalanta 0
Barcelona 1 PSG 2
Bayer Leverkusen 2 PSG 7
PSG 1 Bayern Munich 2
PSG 5 Spurs 3
PSG are second top of the French league and have won ten and lost two of their 15 domestic league matches so far.
They have 12 points from their opening five Champions League fixtures and are currently 2nd in the table with three games to go.
My thoughts
All three of these opponents score and concede goals.
Three tough opponents, as evidenced by results in the fifth round of Champions League matches.
In their domestic leagues, PSG, Leverkusen and PSV have played 43 league matches between them and lost only seven of them.
Whilst in the Champions League, they have lost one game each of the five they have played.
This is how the Champions League table now looks on Tuesday (9 December 2025) morning, ahead of the sixth round of games:
Newcastle United now in 11th place in the Champions League table.
All to play for though, starting in Germany on Wednesday night.
