Harry Redknapp has been talking about Newcastle United.
The former Spurs and West Ham manager, discussing Eddie Howe and his team now sixteen weeks into the new season.
Newcastle United playing Burnley this weekend.
A 3pm kick-off on Saturday afternoon at St James’ Park.
Newcastle United looking to bounce back from that midweek late Spurs goal in added time, that snatched two points away.
Harry Redknapp talking ahead of Newcastle United playing away against Burnley:
“I know Eddie will be disappointed to not get all three points against Spurs but its been a great two weeks for Newcastle, and they really needed it after a poor start to the season.
“Win this, and they’ll be right back in the top four race.
“Burnley desperately need a positive result after a tough, tough spell.
“They made a decent enough start to the season but they’re finding it tough right now.
“Prediction: Newcastle 2 Burnley 0
“One to watch – I do like watching Nick Woltemade, he’s a very unusual striker. He reminds me of Crouchy at times!”
My thoughts
Midweek against Spurs was a game Newcastle United should have won. The far better and more threatening team, with Spurs scoring their only two efforts on target, the second of those deep in added time.
This weekend against Burnley is a game Newcastle United must win.
That is, if we are to look to climb up the table and start targeting the Champions League places.
A congested league table sees Newcastle United in 12th place but only five points off the top four.
As Harry Redknapp points out, Burnley really struggling now and having lost their last five Premier League games, Newcastle will be going all out from the first whistle to make that six in a row.
Speaking of Nick Woltemade, he had actually gone five games without scoring since heading home against Spurs in the Carabao Cup in late October. Having scored that classy goal at Everton and then getting an assist for Bruno’s goal in midweek, it would be great to see him getting on the scoreboard this afternoon.
