The question we were asking Newcastle United fans on Wednesday – Having won six of their last nine matches across the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, how many wins in the next nine games would be the minimum needed to represent success for Newcastle United?
Such a busy and crucial time coming up for Eddie Howe and his players.
The last nine Newcastle United matches have brought six wins and three defeats.
The victories coming against Union S-G, Forest, Benfica, Fulham, Spurs and Athletic Club Bilbao.
Whilst the defeats were against Brighton, West Ham and Brentford.
This upcoming four week period sees another nine Newcastle United games, ahead of Christmas.
Between Saturday 22 November and 20 December, Eddie Howe and his NUFC side have five games at home and four away, across three competitions.
Those nine games are Man City (H), Marseille (A), Everton (A), Spurs (H), Burnley (H), Bayer Leverkusen (A), Sunderland (A), Fulham (H) and Chelsea (H).
Having won six of their last nine matches across the Premier League, Champions League and Carabao Cup, how many wins in these next nine games would be the minimum needed to represent success for Newcastle United?
When we get to Christmas and are looking back at the last nine results, how many of them will realistically have to have been victories for you to be content?
The results from Newcastle United fans are now in, the percentage that voted for each option of minimum number of wins in next nine games that would represent success (results are rounded up or down to nearest whole number):
0 wins – 0%
1 win – 0%
2 wins – 0%
3 wins – 1%
4 wins – 3%
5 wins – 18%
6 wins – 42%
7 wins – 26%
8 wins – 3%
9 wins – 7%
Many thanks to all of you who took the time to vote.
As you can see, the vast majority of Newcastle United fans who voted, accepting that winning eight or all nine, is obviously what we would all love to see, but realistically would be very unlikely.
After 6 wins in the last 9, the most popular option seeing Newcastle United fans picking out a repeat of that as the minimum number of victories in the next nine that would represent a successful month.
A massive 86% of those voting, going for somewhere between five and seven wins, so for most of the fanbase I am guessing that is the ballpark kind of area equalling success.
So much I guess, also coming down to which Newcastle games would be won, out of the nine. Whilst a huge difference as well between say how Newcastle United fans would feel with five wins and four defeats, compared to six wins and three draws.
A huge month ahead and here’s hoping we come out of that feeling good about our NUFC world.
