Yoane Wissa has now made history with Newcastle United.

The club revealing (see below) that the striker created a landmark moment on Saturday when he came off the bench against Burnley.

Ahead of this most recent match, Newcastle United had seen 999 players appear in league games down the years.

So congratulations to Yoane Wissa on this moment in the NUFC spotlight.

Hopefully many more such spotlight moments to come in the future for our summer signing.

Newcastle United official release – 8 December 2025:

‘Yoane Wissa creates history after Newcastle United debut.

Yoane Wissa became the 1000th player to represent Newcastle United in a league fixture after making his Magpies debut in Saturday’s 2-1 home victory against Burnley.

The DR Congo international made his highly-anticipated bow for Eddie Howe’s side last weekend, introduced as a 75th minute substitute in last weekend’s Premier League win against the Clarets at St. James’ Park.

Wissa, who joined United from Brentford in September before suffering a posterior cruciate ligament injury whilst on international duty, hit the significant milestone after Anthony Elanga, Jacob Ramsey, Nick Woltemade, Malick Thiaw and Aaron Ramsdale, who all joined the club last summer, had already made their bows earlier this term.

Congratulations to Yoane on making his Newcastle United debut along with achieving the impressive feat.’

No prizes if anybody can name the other 999 Newcastle United players to have made a league appearance.

Although I may have a go later myself to see how many of them I can name. I reckon I could name 300-400 of them.

Let me know in the comments below if anybody takes on this (admittedly pointless!) challenge, how many you managed to name???
